This project rethinks how infrastructure can serve both the city and its people—blurring the lines between functionality, sustainability, and community engagement. The waterfront isn’t just a physical boundary; it becomes an opportunity to introduce new typologies that foster gathering, education, and self-sufficiency.
The design integrates systems like food and water waste management, greenhouses, and community farming, all working together to create a closed-loop network. Markets, educational spaces, and workshops activate the site, encouraging interaction and resource-sharing. The goal is to build a self-sustaining ecosystem that not only supports Red Hook’s residents but also strengthens the relationship between urban life and environmental responsibility.
Through this process, infrastructure is explored as more than just a backdrop—it becomes active, adaptive, and a catalyst for positive change.
