The Diffusion Grounds is an experimental urban intervention in Flushing Meadows that challenges traditional spatial hierarchies by embracing fluidity, unpredictability, and collective authorship. Inspired by ink diffusion and fractal branching, the project dissolves rigid boundaries imposed by past planning, fostering spaces that shift, evolve, and adapt through community interaction. Rather than static design, it introduces porous pavilions, an unmapped maze, and co-creation labs where movement, culture, and leisure intertwine. By prioritizing collaboration over passive participation, it creates a living, evolving monument to access, refuge, and shared authorship—an urban landscape where control gives way to organic, unpredictable social exchange.
